It was a moment of tears as the first female Combat Pilot in Nigeria Tolulope Arotile was laid to rest. Her family, The Nigerian Airforce and some government officials including Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello were in attendance.
The Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar was seen with his eyes filled with tears as he watched the funeral of one of the officers who made the Nigerian Air Force proud.
Her Corpse Was Welcomed In A Red Carpet
Tolulope's corpse was welcomed in a red carpet with her colleagues all in the official uniform of the Nigerian Airforce who matched with songs to the stand where her body was laid. All the attendees stood up for a minute silent in honor of the late Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile.
A Funeral Sermon Was Delivered
The chaplain of the Nigerian Airforce gave a sermon which was in honor of Tolulope. According to the man of God, Tolulope's death is devastating. He said that in situations like this, nobody can question God for only him knows everything. He also used the opportunity to ask the various level of government in Nigeria to tackle the frequent cases of rape, and sexual harassment in the country. He described Tolulope as dedicated and patrotic officer who served the country with all her strength.
Lowring Her Body In The Grave
Her family who were all in black outfit took turn to pour sand in her grave as a way bidding her farewell.
Laying Of Wreaths
Tolulope Arotile was given a full military burial. Some of the dignitaries who attended her burial took turns to lay a wreath around her grave to demonstrate their love and affection for the deceased military officer.
